Skyrim Special Edition Survival Mode is available free for a limited time

If you're interested in trying out the new Survival Mode in Skyrim Special Edition, you should do so now while it's free.

Survival Mode is part of the recently released Creation Club update for Skyrim Special Edition.

Bethesda promised to make the mode free for the first week of release, and now that's out on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, anyone can try it for free. Survival Mode in Skyrim works in a similar way to the Fallout 4 version, in that it prevents fast travelling, adds a hunger and thirst meters, and generally requires a lot of character maintenance from players.

The mode will remain available for free until October 10, but you can only download it through the Creation Club. There are other community-made survival mods available, of course, but you'll need the Creation Club for the official Bethesda version.
