4v1 shooter Raiders of the Broken Planet is giving away its prologue mission for free

Raiders of the Broken Planet, the next game from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and the upcoming Metroid: Samus Returns, releases in September.

Now, developer MercurySteam has revealed the price model and how this unique 4v1 game is going to work. Raiders of the Broken Planet's prologue, as well as first episode will both release on September 22.

The prologue includes two missions that take you across four stages, and it's completely free to download and play. This episode contains access to several characters, in addition to single-player and multiplayer modes.

The first episode, called Alien Myths, is out on the same day at a modest price of $9.99/£9.99/€9.99. This episode brings additional content to the story, and new characters.

MercurySteam is planning to release three other campaigns "at regular intervals": Wardog Fury, Hades Betrayal, and Council’s Apocalypse. Stories in all episodes are designed to be played standalone, but the developer says each will offer a new perspective of the main conflict.

Raiders of the Broken Planet is a 4v1 shooter with a melee combat aspect where you tackle missions with three other players. On top of the AI enemies, you also fight another player who the game calls The Antagonist. This can be anyone who decides to invade your game.

The enemy player's job is simple: stop the four others from achieving their mission objective.

Raiders of the Broken Planet is out September 22 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
