The Overwatch Spectator Mode will be improved to make it easier to follow players in the match

One of the biggest complaints from those who follow the Overwatch pro scene is that the game's Spectator Mode is lacking.

The most talked about issue has to do with readability of the match. Right now, it's really hard to follow which team is assigned to blue and which is assigned to red. Colours will change constantly in a match anytime you switch perspectives.

In one of the many threads about this problem on the game's forums, game director Jeff Kaplan chimed in to confirm that work is being done to improve the game's Spectator Mode, particularly when it comes to team colours.

"We're working on a better team colouring system right now," said Kaplan.

"We've put significant efforts against this issue. We agree, it's a top issue and there are a lot of areas for improvement. Our results and progress has been really good and I have faith the team will deliver something that raises the quality of the experience significantly."

Unfortunately, Kaplan didn't give any hints as to when we'll be seeing this in the game. With the Overwatch League starting soon, it'd make sense for these improvements to hit the live game sooner rather than later.
