Along with news of a demo for NBA Live 18, EA Sports has announce WNBA teams and players will be included in the basketball title.
The Women’s National Basketball Association will be available in WNBA Play Now, and according to EA Sports, teams and player skills have been “specifically balanced to reflect” the athletes’ playstyle .
This is the first time the WNBA will appear in a video game and the teams will only be available in NBA Live 18.
Head scans and motion capture sessions were conducted for players such a Maya Moore, Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi, Alisha Gray, Jonquel Jones, and others including 2017 WNBA Draft first overall pick, Kelsey Plum.
EA Sports first added women’s teams starting with FIFA 16 and continued with FIFA 17 and now NBA Live 18.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will be able to give the game a try next week on August 11. Progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game.
NBA Live 18 shown off during EA’s E3 2017 presentation and part of the focus was on the new career mode called The One, which sounds similar to FIFA 17’s The Journey mode.
It includes The League and pickup games via The Streets allowing the player’s customized character to progress no matter which type of match is chosen. Character playstyle, traits and signature ability can be chosen.
It will also feature Live Events which can be played in single-player, co-op or competitive multiplayer modes.
NBA Live 18 will release worldwide in September for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
