PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds first-person servers are coming in the July update after all

Once believed to require more time than expected to finalise, first-person-only servers are now coming to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds with the next update.

Brendan ‘Playerunknown’ Greene, after saying that it's not as easy as flipping a switch when it comes to first-person servers, has returned bearing good news.

Now, it appears that this month's update, likely out in two weeks, will include the FOV slider and the anticipated and often requested first-person servers. The game mode is sometimes referred to as 'hardcore', though nothing actually changes other than the player's in-game perspective.

As it's still a work-in-progress feature, it won't be rolled out to all regions at launch. Not all game modes will also support first-person from the get go. At release, the option will be available in Solo and Duo queues for the North American and European servers only. That means no first-person squads just yet, and no Oceanic or Asian servers.

The plan is to expand to support to all remaining modes and regions once the system is a little bit more polished. For now, we'll just have to wait on new details about first-person-only mode.
