The Surge is getting a demo on PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Dark Souls-inspired The Surge will have its own demo next week, on all platforms.

No specific date was announced, but developer Deck13 confirmed that the demo includes PS4 Pro support. This means that the same technical features that earned the main game praise such as 1080p/60fps on PS4 Pro, and HDR will be available in the demo.

The studio also didn't share what type of content players can expect from the demo, how big it's going to be, and whether or not saves will carry over to the main game.

That said, the studio continues to support The Surge, and has recently released a rather big patch on consoles, with the PC version to be available "soon." Some of the patch notes include fixes made to the PC version towards the end of June.

The biggest change by far has to be the ability to cancel attacks into an evade, something the lack of which made the game harder and less responsive than it needed to be. Other additions include an FOV slider, as well as some balance changes and bug fixes.

Check out the full list of notes at the official forum.

We reviewed The Surge at launch and found it to be ambitious but ultimately lacking. Souls fans will definitely find a lot to like here, but a few bizarre quirks will frustrate most.
