PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' recent patch datamined to reveal over 50 cosmetic items, including full body armour

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds looks like it's about to receive a whole lot of new cosmetic items.

The game's most recent patch has been datamined by Reddit user DevinWatson and they found over 50 customisation items.

The collection includes simple items such as masks, goggles, and gloves as well as more intricately designed ones like vests, jackets, hoodies, t-shirts, shorts and more. Interestingly, there also appears to be skins for backpacks, which is a bit of a strange concept when you consider that in-game backpacks are most commonly identified through their designs.

Perhaps these skins would only show on your avatar, but not have an effect on the ones you see on the ground. The files also include a 3D model of an apple. It was referred to as "poison apple" in the directory, so it's unclear if it'll simply be used as different booster for health or speed, or if it's actually a poisoned apple.

There's also a bizarre, futuristic suit of armour, which looks like homemade superhero costume.

As it currently stands, there's a very limited collection of cosmetic items obtainable through loot crates. These boxes can only be purchased using the in-game currency.

Very few items were added since Battlegrounds came out in March, but this at least reveals plans to expand what's available well beyond what it is today, even if not everything seen here may necessarily make it out.

We've featured some of the best looking ones above, but you can see the rest at the link.
