The latest free update for Watch Dogs 2 is a whopper, introducing four player co-op that will greatly expand the game's multiplayer options.

The free July update, available July 4, celebrates Independence Day by letting you team up with three friends and free-roam San Francisco together, getting up to mischief, blowing stuff up, and taking on them game's numerous multiplayer modes as a party.

You won't be able to do the game's two player co-op missions while rolling four deep, but you will be able to invade other people's games, if you're so inclined. As the trailer points out, this is the latest of several free substantial updates Watch Dogs 2 has received.

This has been promised for a while, and was originally going to be part of a paid piece of DLC, but Ubisoft decided to be generous - possibly in the hope to improve sales. Considering how GTA Online has become such a incredible success story, it's probably not a bad bet to take.

Watch Dogs 2 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
