The series has been relegated to Japanese arcades for a while now, so it's nice to see a console version coming. It's being co-developed by Team Ninja.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (the NT stands for 'New Tale') is a three-on-three combat game, although you only control one of the characters yourself. There will be villains to play as this time, and there's a 'class' system that all the characters fit into, which dictates what sort of fighter they are.

The player selects Tidus, so naturally, they get beaten up pretty badly.

There are summons as well, which can be brought out with a tap of the touch pad. You can customise your EX move skills, meaning that you can change the way your characters fight. It looks like there will be all the heroes you'd expect - Lightning and Cloud pop up in the background. The stages are based around Final Fantasy games as well, and as with the PSP version positioning is important.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will launch on PS4 in early 2018.
