It shows the game’s android protagonists dealing with the political ramifications of transhumanism…kind of. It’s really about choice, as all David Cage games are.

This trailer introduces us to Marcus. It’s not clear whether this is the man we were introduced to last year as Connor, or if Connor (who was a detective and looked different) is still in here somewhere as a playable character. It could be that Detroit: Become Human will take a Heavy Rain approach and split gameplay between multiple different groups. In any case, we follow Marcus and his companion (who is focused on less) as they bring about something of a robot uprising.

Perhaps this won’t happen in everyone’s playthrough? It seems very different from footage we’ve seen before. The trailer also highlights the smaller choices you can make in the game – choosing where to take cover when the police arrive can change what happens next, for example.

Marcus is seen recruitsing several androids to follow him, freeing them from ‘slavery’. The rest of the trailer shows the androids fighting back against humanity, protesting their treatment. Eventually, humans fight back, slaughtering the androids. The trailer doesn’t show much in the way of gameplay, and seems to be more intent on showing plot details, and emphasizing how your decisions can change the game’s outcomes.

We found out last year that the game would be about eight to ten hours long, but with reasons to replay. No release date has been given yet. Hopefully we’ll find out something more concrete soon, as the trailers we’re seeing aren’t necessarily adding up to a clear picture.
