Laser League is a futuristic sports game about murdering opponents with light.

Roll7 is a developer known for some unusual games, from the skateboarding game Olli Olli to the action-packed gunfest of Not a Hero. Now the team wants to combine sports and murder with an all-new futuristic sports game - Laser League.

Laser League takes place in the year 2150, where athletes battle to the death for public entertainment. Two teams rush across a small arena attempting to gain control of laser emitters for their side. Once an emitter is activated, it unleashes laser beams in a fixed pattern which destroys any opposing teammates they touch. Players will have access to various classes which mix up each match, such as a thief who can control emitters before they switch off, or a tank who can knock opponents back into beams.

Visually, Laser League has an arcade-focused Tron-like quality that I suspect will be a big hit in the local co-op scene. The game expected to launch in PC Early Access this summer, with a finished version arriving in 2018.
