FIFA 18 Switch deeper than any portable entry before it - Ultimate Team, local and online multiplayer, multiple control schemes, more

FIFA 18 on Switch will be quite decent.

FIFA 18 got a bit of love during EA's E3 2017 presentation but as well as showing off FIFA 18's story mode and gameplay EA also talked about the Switch version a little bit.

Portable FIFA games have always been a bit hit and miss with the emphasis on the "miss", but the publisher said FIFA 18 Switch is the "deepest portable game ever to be introduced by EA Sports FIFA", which presumably refers to its boatload of content. The available modes are Career Mode, FIFA Ultimate Team, Kick Off and Local Seasons, and Squad Building Challenges, Online and Offline Seasons, Tournaments, and Draft are all featured.

"Players will enjoy live campaigns connected to the narrative of the football season, the Transfer Market, and more Ultimate Team features that will be revealed very soon," a press release said of FIFA 18 Switch specifically.

As you'd hope, FIFA 18 Switch has both online and local multiplayer so you can kickabout with your pals even if there's no Wifi in the cafe where you're inexplicably playing FIFA together. Look, I don't know where people play FIFA.

Wherever it is, they can now do it in a variety of ways. FIFA 18 Switch is playable in docked, handheld or tabletop mode, and can be played using "handheld, dual Joy-Con, single Joy-Con or Pro Controller" control schemes. When docked, FIFA 18 Switch outputs at 180p, and is displayed at 720p in handheld mode.

FIFA 18 releases in September for PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
