Overwatch Anniversary event starts May 23, Game of the Year Edition announced

The Overwatch Anniversary event will kick off next week, as expected, alongside the Game of the Year Edition.

It will run May 23 through June 12 and during this time, Overwatch will be free to download and play May 26-29 on all platforms.

May 23 is also the day the Game of the Year Edition will drop.

A price hasn't been announced, but it includes the following items which were leaked a week ago.

The Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition comes out digitally on Tuesday, May 23 and includes the following bonus items:

  • 10 Loot Boxes with random items such as credits, skins, emotes, poses voice lines, sprays and highlight intros.
  • Mercy's wings for Diablo 3 players
  • Tracer for Heroes of the Storm
  • Hero Skins: Vintage skins for Blackwatch Reyes, Strike-Commander Morrison, Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Phara, and Slipstream Tracer.
  • StarCraft 2 in-game Portraits of Bastion, Tracer, Pharah, Reaper, Soldier: 76, and Winston.
  • Overwatch-themed Hearthstone Card Back
  • Baby Winston pet to use in World of Warcraft
  • Overwatch-themed card back for Hearthstone

It's basically the same items includes with the Overwatch: Origins Edition, save for the ten additional Loot Boxes. The GotY edition will also replace the Origins Edition.

More information on the Game of the Year Edition will be forthcoming, sometime before next Tuesday we expect, so stay tuned. Same goes for the Overwatch Anniversary Event.
