Devolver Digital has announced a release date for Sloclap’s online, melee action game Absolver. Oh, and a new video providing an overview of combat is available to watch as well.

As you can see, the trailer focuses on the various details and nuance of combat, providing a look at each unique fighting style and abilities.

The player will choose one of three combat styles at the start, but others exist “to be discovered.” Each of the three initial combat styles come with special abilities and will improve special character attributes depending on player style.

  • Kahlt Method – Absorb hits without being stunned or pushed back, and regain lost health with every successful counter attack.
  • Forsaken – Balanced and powerful, prospects can parry enemy attacks and briefly stun opponents.
  • Windfall – Greater dexterity and will, prospects can avoid enemy attacks leaving them open to a powerful counter attack.

The trailer also provides details on the Combat Deck, which is an inventory of attacks players can use while fighting. The deck is made up of four stances, and each stance has different attacks available.

You can watch previous trailers for Absolver here, here, and here.

Players can choose attacks and stances to create a fighting style and its fully customizable, allowing players to change fighting stances on the fly. New attacks can also be unlocked during battle or through a mentor.

Relationships are as important as fighting, because they allow the player to acquire more skill and knowledge.

Absolver will be ready to “kick your face in” on PlayStation 4 and PC August 29.
