Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: WW2 is going for a more somber, more realistic experience than the last few years of Call of Duty games, and in this new video, the tean outlines what that entails.
It looks like the campaign is aiming for a grounded take on World War 2. While most of the people speaking in the video are Sledgehammer employees, they’ve also included insight Martin K.A. Morgan, a historian who specializes in World War 2. This is not Morgan’s first videogame – he was a technical adviser for Medal of Honor Airborne.
The game will be about “ordinary people doing extraordinary things”, and the story will “weave in and out of real historical events”. The art team is aiming to make the experience “emotionally dark, but visually beautiful”.
Reactions to the video have been positive, which is a far cry from the backlash Infinity Ward experienced from their Infinite Warfare videos.
