Rocket League developer Psyonix has announced Dropshot, a new mode coming to Rocket League on March 22. Dropshot is a take on Volleyball where the objective is to destroy floor panels on the opposing team's side by drop-shotting the ball into them.

The mode comes with a new arena, Core 707. The entire field is made up of small hexagons that you have to destroy in order to score. Each panel needs two hits to break. For this reason, the game will now record a new stat: damage.

The ball is also different in Dropshot, featuring three phases, and the more it stays off the ground, the more powerful it becomes. The trailer above does a good job of showing how the mode will play out.

When Dropshot goes live March 22, it will do so in a patch that'll also bring new achievements, cosmetics, a new skill tier hierarchy, and more. This will also bring an end to the game's third competitive play season.
