Nintendo Switch: battery life test, reserving user ID, taking screenshots, secrets & more

Let's get prepared for the launch of the Nintendo Switch this week.

It's finally here. Well, almost. The Nintendo Switch launches worldwide this week, as the Japanese console maker returns to the games scene after the quiet decline of the Wii U.

The Switch comes out of the gates strong, backed by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a game that is already looking like it could be one of the best Zelda games in years.

The Switch itself is a different machine to what you're used to; part console, part handheld. It looks more like a traditional tablet, but built entirely for video game use, and has all the style and cute features you'd expect from Nintendo, a company that refuses to follow trends.

Here then are video guides to getting started with your new favourite games console; take a tour of the menus and UI, find out how to reserve your user ID and take screenshots, just how big are game downloads and perhaps most importantly of all, how long will the battery last when you take the Switch with you?
