Ni No Kuni 2 is outstandingly good-looking.

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom doesn’t have a realese date, but it looks so good already one can’t help but think news must be coming soon on that front.

In this video, you get a look at Ni No Kuni 2’s world map before zooming back in to normal gameplay level when the players reach Cloudcoil Canyon. After that there’s a stack of combat footage, including a peek at Higgledies, which are the little blobby things you’ll see awarming about the place. Apparently they help in combat and in exploration, but can only be seen by the pure-hearted.

Intrigued? There’s more. Ni No Kuni 2’s Japanese website has been updated with a stack of new information on the setting and characters. Siliconera has rounded up and translated all the intel, so click through and dig in.

No No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom releases on PC and PS4 sometime this year. As with the first game, the artwork is heavily influenced by Studio Ghibli, which supplied animation for the cinematics in the first game on both DS and PS3.

One notable change from the first game is that the visitor to the titular “other country” is a grown up; in the first Ni No Kuni, players followed the adventures of a young boy transported to a magical land, but in this case, the young protagonist, Evan, is the local – and his helper is the foreigner.

Also, the kid has cat ears, his middle name is “Pettiwhisker”, and he’s the deposed king of a town called Ding Dong Dell where mice are oppressing cats. I think I might faint from the cuteness.
