The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has at least two endings

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will reflect your journey in its concluding moments.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has an alternate ending, series producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed.

Speaking with IGN Portugal, as translated by NintendoLife, Aonuma wouldn't be drawn on details but confirmed some players will see a slightly different ending.

"There is a certain criteria you have to fulfil to see it. Essentially, you do some specific things and you'll see a different ending," he explained.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won't be the first Zelda game to have multiple endings, but it's always been pretty subtle - The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening probably had the most meaningful one, with a hint at the nature of the game world and a specific character's fate if you completed the game without ever dying.

It makes sense that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild might go in for something a bit more impactful, given how many other new directions it takes the franchise in. Reinvention! That's the Zelda way.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild releases in early March, day and date with the Switch. It's also releasing on Wii U on the same day, so no extra wait for the Nintendo faithful, thankfully. It is the last first-party Wii U game.

Over the weekend we got a look at the official guide for the RPG, which revealed many details such as the map and number of shrines, quests and puzzles in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. No spoilers through that link, but plenty on the cards if you go looking, unfortunately.

We expect The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to be one of the biggest games of the year, so keep it locked for news as it rolls in.
