Pokemon Sun and Moon is doing rather well at US retail, and has helped boost 3DS unit sales in the process.

According to a statement sent out by Nintendo for the December 2016 NPDs, 4.5 million combined units of Pokemon Sun and Moon have been sold in the US.

The company said Sun and Moon hit the milestone faster than any other Nintendo game to-date. Thanks to the latest entries in the franchise, 3DS sales were up 2% year-over-year.

For the final quarter of 2016, Nintendo said 7.3 million units of first-party 3DS games were sold during the October – December period. It was the best-selling quarter for 3DS software in the handheld’s history, according to the company.

Other first-party titles, such as Super Mario Maker, also contributed to the boost in 3DS software sales.
