This new Vermintide DLC addresses my biggest problem with the game - and it's free

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide is about to get a whole lot less frustrating.

I really like Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide but I don't play it as much as I should, because it makes me super angry.

The problem is the loot. There are several tiers of rarity in Vermintide and if you're a scrub like me you'll want the best gear before you challenge the higher difficulty levels.

Getting that best gear though? It's a slog. Given that each character has multiple weapon types, at multiple rarity levels, with multiple possible bonuses attached to them, the chances of Vermintide's RNG throwing up something you want is slim to none. Collecting all the tomes and grimoires increases your likelihood of scoring loot and its final quality, but it has zero effect on the chances you'll get something totally useless for your particular build.

Vermintide developer Fatshark has added a couple of systems to make this less unbearable. For example, you can take multiple weapons of the same rarity and reforge them into one, better weapon for example - but again, RNG plays a factor. You can also try offering up resources obtained from breaking down equipment to receive a new weapon - but oh, look, RNG is back again.

There are ways to improve your chances and you could always, like, try another character or build based on the loot you do have, but I personally am really attached to my Witch Hunter and his headstab rapier so I'm not having any of it. I demand Vermintide give me what I want ... and so I'm still waiting on enough base-quality items to force it to give me even a second level version of the weapon I'm chasing.

Yes, my Vermintide teammates are tired of my stubbornness - but now here comes a new free DLC which may restore harmony to our group without me having to switch off my adjustment disorder. Called Quest & Contracts, it provides players with the opportunity to agree to little side missions in order to earn specific loot, or boons which buff your character - making a dive into the more lucrative difficulty settings a possibility.

The DLC is out now on PC via the latest patch, so grab it and check the Bounty Board in the tavern to get started. Now we just have to hope a quest comes up offering a rapier so I can stop being the dead weight in my Vermintide group.
