Digimon World: Next Order is officially getting a western release

Digimon World: New Order - originally released for the Vita in Japan last March - is getting a digital PS4 release next year in the US and Europe.

This Digimon game focuses on high-school students who team up with a bunch of Digimon - as, I suppose, most of these games are - and is set within an open world. Players have access to two Digimon partners, and while fights are largely automated it's up to you to shout commands at your Digimon from the side.

The game was well received in Japan, with high sales and a score of 33/40 (three 8s and a 9) from Japanese gaming mag Famitsu. The last Digimon game to hit the west, Digimon: Cyber Sleuth, launched for PS4 and Vita earlier this year. Unfortunately we won't be getting a Vita version of this new game, nor a physical edition.

Next Order will welcome players back to the digital world in early 2017.
