Blizzard has been teasing the Overwatch hero Sombra for a while now, but is the most recent trailer hiding new hints?
Overwatch has recently received its first post-launch hero, Ana. Before Ana’s release, many thought the first hero to be added will be Sombra, given how Blizzard has been seemingly teasing the character for a while.
Speculation died down for a while, until fans discovered string of characters in yesterday’s Summer Games announcement that could be considered another tease.
At the eight second mark in the video, this code can be seen “U2FsdGVkX1+vupppZksvRf5pq5g5XjFRlipRkwB0K1Y96Qsv2L m+31cmzaAILwytX/z66ZVWEQM/ccf1g+9m5Ubu1+sit+A9cenD xxqklaxbm4cMeh2oKhqlHhdaBKOi6XX2XDWpa6+P5o9MQw==.”
According to Reddit users, many of whom have been trying to make sense of it since then, this code has been “salted” – similar to how passwords look in their encrypted versions.
Some believe the code has something to do with what Tracer is saying in the video, while others thing it’s a hint of a new location. The trailer also appears to have secret directions (words and symbols that appear on screen), and some users are trying to link these to the code.
As of this writing, a general consensus has not been reached, but it sure is interesting seeing smart people try to decipher the code.
