Mafia 3 tells a new kind of crime drama.
Mafia 3 introduces new protagonist Lincoln Clay, and a new setting in 1968 New Orleans. Apparently explicitly engaged with civil rights stories and themes, it seems a departure from the classic crime dramas of the previous two games.
As this new trailer hints, that’s not the case: Lincoln takes the fight to the mob in defence of his chosen family, and there’s nothing more Mafia than that.
It’s always refreshing to see a new spin on a beloved narrative rather than the same old thing rehashed with bigger explosions. I’m really interested to play as Lincoln and explore New Orleans, especially after Alex’s recent preview, which taught us a lot about Mafia 3’s gang management systems.
Mafia 3 releases in October for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
