Both major PlayStation Stores have ridiculous bargains for you in mid-year sales

Whether you're under the North American or European PlayStation umbrellas, there's a bargain with your name on it.

The PlayStation Store is throwing a massive mid-year sale with discounts on a wide variety of PS4, PS3 and Vita titles as well as DLC, media and more.

The two major western divisions are fronting different sale offers, but the good news is the schemes seem to extend to related territories, so Canadians will see similar discounts on many items found in the US store's sale, and Australians and New Zealanders can take advantage of many of the European store's price cuts.

In North America, the sale will offers new bargain each week; the current batch is available through July 5 This week's deals range from 80% off to 90% off for PS Plus members, and include DOOM, Street Fighter 5, Grow Home, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Tales from the Borderlands, Volume, the Swindle and much, much more.

There are over 100 titles on sale, not including non-games stuff, and the full list is available on the US PlayStation Blog.

In Europe the sale is a straightforward affair with one set of bargains on offer through July 13. Discounts range up to a more modest 60%, but there are more than 300 of them. The sale is "big in Japan" themed and you can pick up some absolute classics: Dark Souls and Demon's Souls, Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Gravity Rush, Metal Gear Solid, Okami, Persona - and just so much more. The full list is available on the EU PlayStation Blog.

My personal pick is Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain at 37% off (on the Aussie store; check your local discount), which at this stage in its price cycle works out at $25, or what I'd spend on a bottle of wine for only a moderately special occasion - such as getting drunk enough to forget how much Ground Zeroes bothered me so I can finally play Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
