Don’t like Link’s new blue tunic? Put him in something else.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild allows players to dress Link up in a variety of costumes.

Speaking to IGN, producer Eiji Aonuma said Nintendo chose to demonstrate Breath of the Wild at E3 2016 with Link dressed in the blue tunic because it would be familiar to those who had seen the reveal trailer – but that there are other options.

“Link gets that blue suit at a very important juncture in the storyline, and we also showed suit of armor you can get too,” Aonuma said.

“There’s also times when Link will venture out into the cold and he’ll need to appropriately equip himself, so there’s definitely a lot of variation types of clothes he can wear.”

Aonuma emphasised that the blue tunic is important to Breath of the Wild’s story, repeating the statement twice more elsewhere in the interview, but wouldn’t give further details. He was also coy on the subject of whether Link’s iconic green tunic will make a return in Breath of the Wild.

As for that comment about needing to dress up for cold areas, don’t worry; if you really want to stare at the muscled torso Link sports in Breath of the Wild, you can.

“If you’re going to a cold area, if you drink the right type of elixir you can go there half-naked and you’ll be fine,” Aonuma said.

There’s always a way. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is coming to Wii U and NX in 2017.
