All Sony E3 2016 demos were running on a regular PS4

Sony has put to bed rumours its gorgeous new games were running on PS4 Neo hardware at E3 2016.

All Sony E3 2016 demos were running on a regular PS4

PlayStation's E3 2016 press conference was kind of amazing - just game after game after game.

This was not what we predicted. Microsoft had come on stage a few hours earlier and revealed not one but two new pieces of hardware, resulting in the most exciting E3 show it has given in years. Knowing that Sony has a 4K version of its console in the works, we expected it to succumb to the temptation to talk about them.

Instead, it chose to focus on games - a much simpler message. And in the end, that sort of made Microsoft look a bit silly; what it apparently needs new hardware to do, Sony is doing with the contemporary PS4.

This narrative immediately falls apart if Sony had secretly been running all its demos on the PS4 Neo, but according to Shuhei Yoshida, everything it showed was powered by bog standard PS4 hardware just like you have under your telly.

God of War's gorgeous snowy landscapes, Days Gone's huge monster crowds, Detroit: Become Human's fantastically detailed characters, Death Stranding's - whatever the hell that was. All on a regular PS4.

I don't know about you, cats, but I'm starting to feel a little more positive about this optional 4K sidegrade business.
