Destiny: Rise of Iron releasing on September 20 for PS4 and Xbox One

The Destiny website apparently posted the release date and platforms for the Rise of Iron expansion a bit early.

The Rise of Iron notice posted regarding the next expansion has since been pulled, but not before Gamespot took a screengrab, god bless 'em.

As you can see in the image above (thanks, reddit) the listing showed a Guardian with two wolves beside them, standing in the snow.

Bungie was set to reveal the expansion tomorrow in a livestream, so part of the surprise has been spoiled.

As you can see in the screengrab, it only mentions PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, so if you play it on PS3 or Xbox 360, don't get upset just yet. We don't know all the details.

The Xbox Stores in the US, the UK and Australia also leaked the expansion, and subsequently pulled the offending store entries.

But thanks to one of our dear readers, Mark Corlson, we have more information on what the store pages contained. On Twitter, Gothalion also posted an image snapped off the Xbox Store page, which we have posted below.

A storyline blurb for Rise of Iron mentioned Old Russia, which means the expansion takes place on earth.

Here's the rest of the blurb:

The wall which stood for centuries along the southern border of Old Russia has collapsed. Fallen mutants now scavenge the tombs of the Golden Age, and the plague they have unearthed in the wastes is more dangerous than even they understand.

Join Lord Saladin, journey to the Plaguelands, and learn the fate of the Iron Lords and stop the growing threat before it's too late.

In the video above, Arekkz goes over the leaks and dives a little into what the Plaguelands could mean based on an old concept art posted many, many moons back. It's the first image below.

As noted yesterday, the store listing mentions typical expansion contents: a new Raid, gear, story, quests, and new weapons.

It also lists a maximum Light increase, new Strike, Plaguelands Zone and Social Space, new Crucible Mode and maps, and a new enemy faction and boss.

The Taken King expansion is required to play and 14GB of hard space will need to be available for starters. More information on the size of the files will be revealed in a set of patch notes on September 16 it seems.

The accidental button pushes follow the quick tease Bungie tweeted earlier this afternoon seen below.

Bungie is set to livestream the “next adventure” for Destiny: The Taken King ahead of E3 2016 tomorrow, so we'll find out more on Rise of Iron then. Be sure to watch along with us here on the site.
