At long last, Pokémon Rumble World hits retail shelves in America.

Pokémon Rumble World get North American retail release

Pokémon Rumble World was initially a free-to-play digital release on the eShop last year, and since then it's been rolled out - at a painfully slow pace - as a physical retail release across the various territories, with North America being the last. And now, the wait is over.

"We love giving our fans as many purchase options as possible,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “Players that love collecting physical games and all things Pokémon will now be able to add Pokémon Rumble World to their Nintendo 3DS collection.”

The digital version is built around the freemium model, with PokeDiamonds needed to unlock levels. There are a limit to the amount of PokeDiamonds players can buy, and although 20 of them can be gathered from a mine each day, it hampers progress somewhat.

The retail release gives players 3,000 PokeDiamonds right off the bat - the maximum amount you can collect in the game - so there's definitely a benefit to opting for the physical version.

The title hit shelves at the end of last week on April 29, and is priced at around $29.99.
