Dark Souls 3: now with very expensive marketing.
Dark Souls has a strong tradition of clever marketing to live up to, although to my mind none of Bandai Namco’s subsequent efforts have topped Bartholemew and All Saints Day.
Anyway, the latest promo for Dark Souls 3 is an animated short directed by Eli Roth, he of Hostel and Hostel 2 fame. Nice. If you enjoy it, you might also wanna check out the behind the scenes footage.
There’s another new Dark Souls 3 trailer doing the rounds at the moment. It hasn’t been made publicly available, as far as I can tell, but it’s been dug out of Steam’s CDN anyway. It’s kind of cool, presenting like the sort of thing you’d find on a Madman VHS tape in the late 80’s – but gosh, clearly nobody told the agency involved in its production that you can play as a woman. Would it have killed ’em to use the word “hero” instead of “man”? Well, it’s not even officially out, so whatever.
Dark Souls 3 launches in under two weeks, on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Who’s excited?
