Sony comments on cross-network play for PS4 after Microsoft's announcement

We'll all be living the dream thanks to Microsoft. But are Sony on board?

On Monday, Microsoft made the news after announcing cross-network play for Xbox One. Suffice to say, everyone shared in the excitement.

But what about those of us on PS4? Gamespot reached out to Sony asking if working with Microsoft would be something they'd be interested in.

"PlayStation has been supporting cross-platform play between PC on several software titles starting with Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and PC back in 2002," they responded. “We would be happy to have the conversation with any publishers or developers who are interested in cross platform play."

While they didn't mention the Xbox One specifically, dancing around naming competitors seems to be commonplace. Microsoft only went as far as "other console [networks]" in their announcement, so there's hope yet.

In the meantime, Sony has been asked for further clarification on this. We'll keep you posted.
