Final Fantasy 14 dev diary series finally gets to visual design

The Final Fantasy series is famously good-looking, so let's talk about that.

The Final Fantasy 14 development team is on a bit of the behind the scenes trip, and the third episode of the developer diary series talks visual design.

Kicking off with one of the most spectacular Heavensward additions, flying mounts, the episode tracks how environments were re-jigged to work with high-speed travel at different elevations. There's a bit of a look at how the art team designed the new mounts, too, if you enjoy over-the-shoulder views of people making tiny adjustments to images on monitors.

Stick around to the end for a special message to fans; it sounds like this is the end of the series. Check out episodes one (sound and music) and two (writing and lore) for the full picture.

If you're a lapsed player, Final Fantasy 14 is hosting a free log-in weekend to highlight the latest content drop and patch.
