Spintires is available to purchase on Steam once more now that fix for the crash problem has been addressed.
The game was pulled last week after a time-related bug caused the game to crash upon being booted.
Developer Pavel Zagrebelnyy told Gamasutra last week the time-related piracy check in the game was the cause, and not a “deliberate sabotage” on his part in which he was accused. The developer told Gamasutra the issue wasn’t fixed around launch due to “little to no communication” with the publisher of Spintires, Oovee.
He told the site the bug was fixed before the issue was blown out of proportion the following day, and he was unsure why Oovee hadn’t released the update.
Many assumed the time-related bug was added by Zagrebelnyy as a “screw you” to Oovee over a payment dispute. He said this was not the case.
The publisher expressed to Gamasutra its “displeasure” at the speculation thrown at developer and that it had “identified the problem” and were in the process of applying the hot fix provided by Zagrebelnyy
Over on the Steam forums, Oovee apologized for the delay in resolving the crash issue, and has released a fix.
“In the next few days we will release a full and frank statement regarding the cause of the problem and how we plan to avoid this happening again,” the firm said.
Oovee also noted it will provide more details on the next update which has been “working on since the start of 2016” soon as the team will start testing it next week.
