Quantum Break TV show will not be available on disc - streaming and download options only

Remedy backpedals on delivery of ambitious game/show hybrid

Quantum Break, the exclusive game/TV show hybrid for Xbox One, will not ship with episodes on a disc.

The original plan was to ship the game and all episodes of the TV show on disc at the same time, but developer Remedy has decided to stream the show for space and length reasons.

"We have 40 different variations of the show in total where basically your choices get to make it evolve and change whether it’s from a junction choice or we have these things called 'Quantum Ripples' which essentially unlocked sort of deleted scenes from the show," designer Greg Louden told GameInformer.

"Then combined with that, the show length can change based on your decisions because some episodes are longer as a result and some episodes are shorter. It basically evolves and that’s why we needed to stream it."

"When we figured out how big the data was, we had to backpedal and think of some good solutions and this made sense," he added.

Owners of the Xbox One version of Quantum Break will be able to download episodes, but those playing on Windows 10 will only have a streaming option.

While we're talking Quantum Break, here's a bunch of new screens straight from Microsoft.

Quantum Break is due for release in April.
