No Man's Sky is not coming out tomorrow

No Man's Sky is the centre of a hub of furious excitement today - and all for naught.

The latest PlayStation Store update on the PlayStation Blog originally included a listing for pre-orders of No Man's Sky, which will go for $60.

So far so what, right? Well, a quirk of Sony's formatting caused major excitement: the listing was accompanied by the note "out 3/3", meaning that the pre-order would be available on this date. This note was included to show it wouldn't be available on the Tuesday, when the majority of PSN content goes live.

Unfortunately for poor old Sony, this clarification is pretty easily misinterpreted as a release date, and a bunch of people started talking about a surprise early launch.

The listing has since been removed entirely, which was probably the most sensible damage control the PlayStation Blog could enact - but because this is the Internet, it's only fuelled conspiracy theories.

Official word is No Man's Sky will release in June. Sorry.
