The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess retrospective reflects on stressful development

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess wasn't an easy game to make, but it was worth it.

To promote The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, Nintendo has released a retrospective on the original RPG's development.

Some of the most notable names in the franchise's history chat about the elation and pressure of the first trailer's E3 reception, and how it drove the team to double down on building a "realistic" Zelda game. Twilight Princess was produced on a very tight schedule, so the enthusiasm of that early reaction was a comfort to the team as they crunched.

There's plenty more to learn in this first episode of a series. I particularly enjoyed Eiji Aonuma talking about Shigeru Miyamoto's dreaded "sob story" messages.
