A group of fans is remaking Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic in Unreal 4

A small team of developers is working on porting Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic to Unreal Engine 4, and it already looks great.

Considered by many a true classic, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has looked dated for a while now. All it needs is modern look and feel for fans of the series and new players alike to re-embrace it as a modern game.

Thankfully, that's exactly what Apeiron is. Apeiron is a group effort to recreate Knights of the Old Republic in Unreal ENgine 4. The project is being done by a small team called Poem Studios, and it's pitching it as a reboot to the series.

Not only that, but they also plan to add new content, with the help of some Star Wars fans.

The team wants to release it for free, and although it's not accepting donations at present, you can volunteer through official site.

The FAQ on the site skirts around the legality of the remake, indicating it was not sanctioned by Disney or EA. Maybe offering it for free could protect them.

Whatever the case, it sure does look pretty.
