Sonic the Hedgehog movie still in the works

Sammy Corporation founder and SEGA boss Hajime Satomi says to expect a Sonic the Hedgehog film to be released in theaters during 2018.

As previously reported, a CGI-live action Sonic film was announced back in 2014, but it's unknown at present whether this is the same film or not. Satomi wouldn't elaborate further in the interview with The World Folio.

It sounds like the same film, though, as Sony Pictures is still involved. But, again, anything other than a film being in the works is undermined.

In 2014, Sega Sammy’s Marza Animation Planet told the Hollywood Reporter the film was in the early planning stages, and that Fast & Furious producer Neal Moritz was on board. It was to be written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux of Upright Citizens Brigade fame.

At any rate, in 2018 you can expect a Sonic the Hedgehog film to hit theaters in two year's time.
