Blizzard won’t bring the Overwatch closed beta back online this month as previously announced.

Instead, participants will have to wait until February which Blizzard said it has been “very open about” with fans.

“While progress has been great and the team has been working super hard to get everything implemented on time, we’re not quite ready to bring the closed beta back online just yet,” said Blizzard on the Battle.net forums.

“A big reason for this delay is that we really wanted to add one more big feature to the next beta patch. We need a little more time to get everything just right.”

This big feature is a new game mode with new maps to support it. Details on either weren’t provided by the developer.

The delay will also provide the team more time to polish the work-in-progress progression and reward system which was announced back in December.

Blizzard said it expects to open the closed beta for Overwatch back up in mid-February, and will do its best to provide at least one week’s notice.
