The Division map doesn't include Brooklyn on launch, only Manhattan

The Division's map will include only the Manhattan borough at launch.

Ever since the big details reveal on Friday for The Division, one of the aspects everyone remains curious about is the size of the map, and which parts of New York it'll include.

We've already seen from the most recent footage that it's a sizeable chunk, a 1:1 scale of the Manhattan borough. However, because Brooklyn was shown off in earlier trailers, many believed it would be included in the game. According to creative director Magnus Jansen, only Manhattan will be available at launch.

"We are going with Mid-town Manhattan. It is because of the 1-to-1 re-creation and the way the pandemic has [happened]," he told Examiner. "Basically, everything has been hit and there are no more resources because everyone tried to get out. There is no more gasoline in the cars, there is no traffic, you're on foot.

"With the level of detail we have, doing Mid-town Manhattan is a huge open-world experience and more than enough to sink your teeth into. It is a very sizeable open-world game."

This leaves out other boroughs like Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, leaving them up for grabs for future DLCs or even a sequel.

The Division is out March 8 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. A beta is scheduled to take place January 28.
