Counter-strike: Global Offensive - Valve nerfs controversial R8 Revolver following fan outcry

The recently added R8 Revolver in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive apparently was too good.

Valve dropped the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive winter update earlier this week. The update brought new gameplay changes and added a kill cam.

The most controversial addition, however, was the new R8 Revolver, which occupies the same slot of the iconic Desert Eagle. It seems the majority of fans thought the weapon was overpowered, leading Valve to respond quickly.

"While it typically takes more time to generate enough data to drive an update (and gameplay updates are always a bit disruptive), in this case it’s clear that we got the damage wrong and can respond immediately," Valve wrote in a new blog update.

The base damage of the revolver has been reduced, and the hammer takes a bit longer to drop, too.

All other balance changes the winter update brought will remain the same for now, until Valve can monitor their effect.
