Overwatch beta patch will update matchmaking and hero balance

If you're in the beta for Overwatch, you'll want to get up to speed with the upcoming patch details. If not, experience it vicariously by listening to Jeff Kaplan's breakdown.

The most notable changes are the match and player rating options that have been added to the end-of-round flow.

Acknowledging that imbalanced matches might be a result of "under-the-hood" experimentation, Kaplan assures players that they're doing their bit for the greater good.

He also addresses hero balancing - in particular, Mercy's Resurrect Ultimate Ability, which was initially deemed too OP, saying that they recognise that they "toned it down in the wrong way" with the last update to her Ultimate.

The beta has been expanded to a wider pool of players this weekend, so if you signed up and haven't been notified, you probably didn't make the cut.

Overwatch is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One in spring 2016 “on or before” June 21.
