Cities: Skylines patch ups building limit

Cities: Skylines has been patched with a much-requested change.

The latest Cities: Skylines patch is a good’un, furthering developer Colossal Order’s reputation for responsive ongoing support.

Thanks to a bunch of recent optimisations, the patch has allowed the team to increase several in-game limits, including a 50% boost to zone limits, a 12.5% increase to road segment limit and a tasty 50% extra in the building limit budget. Agen limits have not been increased, as it’s too resource-intensive under current system requirements.

Colossal Order said these limits aren’t final, and that it understands players really want no limitations at all, but extending the game’s reach isn’t straightforward.

“Limits are tied to several somewhat complex dependencies and fiddling with this could easily end up in us breaking something rather than improving it,” the team said in a forum post, which also includes the full patch notes.

“It would require a large amount of time. Our focus lies elsewhere as it stands, we hope this is a good compromise.”

In the same post, Colossal responded to feedback on recent expansion After Dark. The developer acknowledged a small number of issues and is working on fixes and rebalancing, as well as investigating solutions where a feature is working as intended but hasn’t been well-received.
