Shooter audience switching to PlayStation 4, Sony says

According to Sony, shooter fans are switching to PlayStation 4 as their console of choice.

Sony's push for third-party deals with all of the top and hotly anticipated shooters this holiday is paying off. The platform holder believes players now see PlayStation 4 as the home for shooters.

"This generation, the shooter audience is tending to switch over to PS4," Lauren Bradley, PlayStation group marketing manager told MCV.

Bradley emphasised Sony's alignment with Star Wars Battlefront as one of the key reasons. The game's latest trailer - the live-action nostalgia trip one - featured the PlayStation logo.

Looking at this campaign, coupled with Call of Duty's DLC exclusivity moving to PlayStation- not to mention Sony's treatment of Destiny, there's a clear push for PlayStation 4 to be the shooter console.

"When we first saw [the Battlefront TV ad] I think everyone in the office suddenly had something in their eye. So we’ve got high expectations for Star Wars Battlefront around both launch and into next year," added Bradley.

Star Wars Battlefront, unlike Destiny and Call of Duty, will not be getting PlayStation-exclusive content. Timed or otherwise.
