Pillars of Eternity 2 will show another side of Obsidian's world

Pillars of Eternity veterans can look forward to visiting new locations when the sequel rolls around.

Pillars of Eternity 2 is happening as soon as Obsidian can fit it in around expansions and other projects, and fans of the RPG's setting may be pleased to know they'll be seeing more of it than has been featured so far.

"I would say in Pillars 2, we would probably take it to someplace which is not quite as familiar," Obsidian's Josh Sawyer told PCGamesN

"Which is exactly what Baldur’s Gate 2 did. Baldur’s Gate 2 took you to Amn, to Athkatla, which is nearby the rest of the Sword Coast territories but it’s different enough that it feels new and interesting."

Sawyer's comment led on from a discussion of how expansion The White March is "the other side of the Infinity Engine equation, which is Icewind Dale" - a less welcoming environment but not a huge departure from the locations seen in the base game.
