It looks like LEGO Dimensions will offer a bit of a new take on Portal.

IGN have posted a video of Doug Heder, a producer on LEGO Dimensions, explaining how the Portal level included in the Starter Pack will work.

It sounds like there will be nine test chambers and a boss fight to play through, with additional levels available in the Portal level pack. GLaDOS is back, as is Wheatley. As Heder explains, the levels have to accommodate the starter pack characters – Batman, Wyldstyle and Gandalf – none of whom have their own portal guns.

The toy pad, which figurines are placed on during gameplay, will feature prominently in the Portal puzzles. You will be able to move the physical LEGO figurines around the pad to move them in-game.

The level pack will come with an open world based on Portal and a new story level based around Chell, who can fire portals. It may not be Portal 3, but it’s still pretty enticing.
