Around this time every year, Apple hosts an event at which the new iPhone is unveiled.

According to CNet, the latest iPhone is likely to be revealed at the September 9 event the company has recently sent out invitations for. Going by past release strategies, they are likely to unveil the 6S and 6S Plus.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have been the best-selling iPhones ever, and the device itself has made mobile gaming into the huge business that it is today. Being featured in iPhone ads or on Apple Store demo units has generally led to great success for developers, although there are plenty of cautionary tales in iPhone development too. Recently, Angry Birds developer Rovio has had to let staff go, for instance.

What advantages the 6S has over previous models as a gaming device remains to be seen, but we’ll know more after the event.
