Final Fantasy 15’s villain “to top all villains” in the franchise; Malboro battle footage inside

The Final Fantasy 15 Active Time Report shown live during gamescom 2015 today revealed a few interesting details on the Square Enix title along with gameplay footage.

The gameplay shown above gives you a look at the Malboro enemy and glimpse at the valley region which appears in the second half of the game.

After showing the trailer released earlier today, director Hajime Tabata went in to the backstory of the game a bit.

We won’t rehash it here as we already told you the backstory earlier in the trailer post linked above.

During the Active Time Report, which was painstakingly transcribed by Gematsu, Tabata said he wouldn’t delve into what the monsters shown at the end of the new trailer were, but he did confirm they weren’t Eidolons.

Tabata also answered a few questions posed by fans, one of which has to do with the possible inclusion of airships. He said the team is currently looking into the possibility.

“If the height that the airship can fly is limited, then it would technically be possible,” he said. “There is a good chance it will be in the game and at least fly at bird’s height. If it’s not in the base game, I want to have it released after the game launches as downloadable content.”

Tabata also said the game’s Cross Chain combo system is in the process of being tweaked and there will a third type not featured in the Episode Duscae demo in the core game.

Tabata also dropped some other news: the new villain is “going to top all of the previous FF villains” and more information about the character will be released later; the “girl with the black hair” will remain “mysterious” for now, but she is integral to the story.

A playable city demo will be released “as soon as possible” but the team can’t announce a date for launch just yet.

Finally, Tabata said a release date for Final Fantasy 15 has been established internally at Square Enix along with distribution of information pertaining to said release date.

The next Active Time Report will take place at PAX Prime later this month, and another during the Tokyo Game Show in September.
