You still can’t play online matches in the PC version of Dead or Alive 5.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round’s online multiplayer has been pushed back following “major issues” discovered during recent beta testing.

“We originally announced that we would release the update by the end of June 2015. However, due to major issues found during the beta test, we will be postponing the release of the update,” Team Ninja wrote in a website update.

“We apologize for the last minute notification and regret deeply the trouble we have caused our Steam customers who were looking forward to the online functionality. We will update the website with a new release date as soon as it is set.”

The beta hasn’t been a roaring success, with some players even needing to roll back to the offline version in order to play the game at all.

This is only the latest in a series of difficulties; the PC port was initially delayed and eventually launched without online multiplayer.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is a re-release which adds new characters and content to the base game. It’s the only version of the fighter available on PC, and since the developer said it wouldn’t make any more PC games if modders couldn’t behave themselves (and they certainly haven’t), it may be the last Team Ninja title we ever see on Steam.

Last Round is quite an interesting experiment for Tecmo Koei; it allows you to import all your Dead or Alive 5 DLC, and is even available in a free-to-play form on PS4 and Xbox One, sort of like Core Fighters last generation.
