Dota 2 being revamped with Source 2 engine and upgraded DotaTV experience 

Valve announced overnight a new game client and features for Dota 2 which is being upgraded with the company's Source 2 engine.

The updated MOBA go into open beta next week sometime, per Valve.

"Early next week we’ll be talking about Custom Games, and later that week we’ll conclude with various details about the new engine and launch the open beta," the post reads. "Throughout the beta we’ll be releasing frequent updates in order to fix bugs and make changes based on the feedback you provide. As you browse around in the new client, you’ll notice a few things that aren’t fully functional yet.

"We want you to help us during the beta with your suggestions and bug reports. Our intention is to keep gameplay and heroes looking and feeling the same, so if you find anything unexpected please let us know.

"We’ll be bringing the update out of beta some time after The International to ensure we have enough time to respond to all of your feedback."

Valve said the new Dota 2 will feature a revamped UI, better tutorials, and as mentioned above, more information on support for custom game modes will be announced next week.

DotaTV changes are also coming and soon fans will have the ability to pause a match, have a look at tournament brackets, casters, schedules and information on the various teams. Detailed player stats will also be shown through the in-client viewer and reportedly, chat windows as well third-party streams will be accessible.
